About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

I Never Promised You A Rose Garden

But what if I find one and go there? Should I expect to find some blooms in the middle of September? Actually, I would expect to find a lot of blooming roses there...

Mostly because one time we were there in the middle of October, and to our surprise, the roses were still blooming! Don't believe me? Check it out - Spring in October.

City Park is a lovely place to walk around the lake and enjoy the fresh air. But this hidden gem of the rose garden is hidden in plain sight, just in front of the Museum of Nature and Science. So, don't miss it if you're in the area...

That morning I wandered around looking for some beauties, and I found plenty. Maybe not as many as I could have found a month or two ago... but still more than enough.

The garden isn't big, but it features plenty of varieties. Different colors and shapes... What a treat if you like roses!

And there were plenty of buds too! Still unopened and waiting for the right moment. Not something you might expect in September, huh?

Don't get me wrong... It is fall, after all, and there were not only blooms but fallen petals too. Yes, the area surrounding the bushes was covered with bright, sparkling petals. I think they gave you a taste of fall after all ;)

And if you look closer, you can find a lot of dried-out blooms that actually make up the majority. Sigh... but what did I expect to find in a rose garden in the middle of September?

But the walk around was still nice and pleasant. I truly enjoyed it and continued to look for some more gems to find...

It still felt a bit weird to see the perfect blooms neighboring the wilted ones.

...and a lot of blooms were frostbitten and didn't look as fresh as they did during the summer. Well, I guess they were sunbitten and Japanese-bug-bitten and didn't really look any better ;)

Well... I stopped by to admire this still-unopened bud before leaving the garden for good. Until next time, though!
