Mornings in April can be chilly. Not truly cold, but just enough to make
you pause for a second before stepping outside. Still, nothing could
stop one from heading to the Denver Botanic Garden in search of spring
blooms. And, oh boy, it didn’t take long to find the first subject to
capture ;)
Tulips steal the show this time of year. Different colors, different
shapes, it’s easy to walk through the garden and take photos of nothing
but tulips. They are the very definition of spring. But there are other
flowers too, and they all deserve their moment. Daffodils, for example
:)
But tulips… some of them are simply stunning. Like these double tulips, with layers upon layers of bright petals. Aren’t they amazing?
I like a small area tucked away from the main path where anemones grow.
There weren’t many in bloom yet, but in a week or two this spot will be
covered with delicate white flowers. I can’t wait to see it.
Another spring favorite - hellebore. Specifically Helleborus orientalis, often called the Lenten rose.
It turned into a really pleasant morning walk around the garden. Flowers were everywhere. Well… that’s spring, isn’t it?
From the anemones I moved on to pasque flowers. These soft, hairy
beauties started early this year and are already fading, but here and
there you can still find one just opening up, taking in as much sunlight
as it can.
And then - summer snowflakes. They reminded me of tiny white bells, like
little snowflakes caught in the grass. A fitting name, don’t you think?
So yeah… chilly or not, it was totally worth getting out early. Spring
is already here, you just need to slow down a bit and look around to see
it ;)
