Last Saturday I had a late start… I didn’t get out of bed until
eight-something and decided to allow myself a lazy morning. And when I
finally left the house, I realized that the weather wasn’t nice either…
It was windy and really chilly. You know, the kind of chill you can feel
in your bones, when it doesn’t matter how many clothes you put on… you
just don’t want to stay outside. So I decided to hide inside the covered
(and nicely warmed) gallery at the Denver Botanic Garden. Orchids were
calling, and I couldn’t find a better way to start a late and lazy day…
So I slowly strolled along the pots with different plants, looking
at the beautiful flowers… So different and yet so alike… So attractive
and so exotic… So familiar and warm, and at the same time distant and
cold…
Orchids are magnificent flowers. They look absolutely stunning when
you take them in all at once. But they seem to become even more
interesting when you go closer and see them face to face… one flower at a
time…
Even more… when you stop looking at the flower as a whole and begin noticing the tiny details…
And then step back again to see the entire bloom…
Just to move closer once more at the next plant and discover new intricate details of orchid flowers…
I have a really hard time putting into words what you can see and
transforming images into language. And why even try, when you can see it
for yourself… see the same strange and beautiful world of orchids that I
admired on this lazy Saturday?
So… just look at what I found when I moved closer… as close as my lens would allow me ;)
