Yeah... I was wandering around the Denver Botanic Garden, and my attention was mostly drawn to, no surprise, poppies...
California poppies stole the spotlight. Their subtle beauty and
bright orange (mostly!) petals worked like a powerful magnet - I just
couldn’t resist.
But I couldn’t pass by the Spanish poppies either. Maybe not quite as elegant, but undeniably beautiful in their simplicity.
And of course, the classic red poppies, especially those that hadn’t opened yet.
Well... I don't think words are even needed here, are they?
Now, about the lilies… Just a week ago, there were only a few in
bloom. But this Saturday, more and more buds were opening, and the show
was just beginning.
Horned poppies (yep, another variety) were just as attractive as the others.
And yes, this is a lily too... just a water lily.
Of course, some other flowers managed to sneak into my camera, and I couldn’t stop them :)
White beauty or prickly poppy. It's quite common on the Colorado plains and in the mountains. Such a simple, yet stunning flowers!
Am I the only one who sees a dragon here? I just not sure why it's sad...
This lily was absolutely perfect. Bright and vibrant, the kind of color that stands out without even trying.
Another Spanish Poppy... This time in yellow.
And back to California poppies again… I can only imagine what a whole field of these would look like.
