About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Birds and Flowers at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat

I had heard of this place but hadn't had a chance to explore the area until a few weeks ago when I went there one morning and walked around for a couple of hours learning about the ponds and habitants...

What can I say...it's a great place to take a lazy stroll, watch the birds and enjoy the small lakes and mountain views.

And the flowers...Don't forget the flowers...Some are colorful and vibrant, some are delicate and subtle ;)

I don't remember seeing so many herons in one place before ;) I think I saw at least half a dozen of them that time. Some far away, some close to the shore.

This Saturday the weather was nice and calm...and the water reflected the trees surrounding the ponds and it was...just beautiful.

I liked the bench and stayed there for a while, admiring the lake visible through a gap in the trees.

A beautiful Eastern Kingbird was resting on the barbed wire dividing the fields...

...and an Osprey was soaring high above my head, looking for fish to catch.

Another heron flew over my head. I had no idea this bird was that big!

You can't walk around a body of water in Colorado without seeing a flock of Red-winged Blackbirds :)

Another heron was wandering around the shallows, and an Osprey was in the sky. Well... I guess I found more than I expected on such a short exploratory hike :)

I glanced at the mountains reflected in the lake and headed home. A couple of hours there and I was ready for another week of work. I think I'll come back and see what else I can find in Walden Ponds...
