About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.

Sunday morning in Hudson Gardens

Hudson Gardens & Event Center is one of those places where you immediately feel at home. Flowers, ponds, and winding paths give it a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

It wasn't my first morning there (click here to see how beautiful this place looked a couple of years ago - Beautiful flowers in a beautiful garden). Usually I visit in mid-May, but this year was different. With a light snowpack and not nearly enough moisture, the gardens looked rather bare until recently.

One of the reasons I came was to see the lilies of the valley. And, honestly, I was disappointed. Just last year, these small white flowers created an intricate carpet beneath the trees (just look how beautiful they were - Lily of the Valley...). This Sunday, however, I could barely find five blooming plants, and even those flowers seemed smaller than usual. Well, maybe next year. I can wait.

I slowly followed the trail around the concert meadow, breathing in the fresh morning air while it was still cool and enjoying the green grass and shallow ponds.

The flowering trees were putting on a nice display too. It was reassuring to see that not every plant was struggling with the lack of water.

Eventually, I made my way to the detailed model of Littleton as it looked a hundred years ago. The miniature train that usually circles the display had apparently taken the day off, and there were no irises in bloom nearby either.

Sigh...

This year the display wasn't quite as colorful as I remembered. Without flowers surrounding the small buildings it looked rather empty and city-like, not like a fairy tale...

On my way back, I passed another small patch of lilies of the valley before returning to the main trail.

And then I found something that felt very Colorado - blooming cacti and columbines growing not far from one another :) Honestly, it seems you can find columbines almost everywhere this time of year.

I made another loop through the gardens, simply enjoying a slow stroll and taking in the ponds, the small creek, and the water cascading gently toward the South Platte River.

Just a couple of hours spent wandering through the gardens left me feeling refreshed. It helped me unwind after a busy workweek and prepared me for the week ahead.

What more could you ask for on a Sunday morning?

Thanks ChatGPT for polishing lightly this story for me :)
