Lily of the Valley...

A year ago, we stumbled upon a small, unexpected patch of lilies of the valley - and what a delightful surprise it was. We were wandering through Hudson Gardens when something tiny and white caught our attention. Sure enough, it was a little cluster of flowers rarely seen in Colorado (click here to see what we discovered last May - Beautiful flowers in a beautiful garden).

Lilies of the valley have always held a special place in my heart. Growing up in the cold northern climate, these delicate blooms were one of the first signs that spring had truly arrived. Somewhere around May, when the air turned warmer, the woods would explode with these tiny white bells - bright drops of spring that meant winter was finally behind us.

As much as we were on the lookout for those little pearls, we kept our eyes open for other treasures in the garden.

What about the white iris? Irises come in so many beautiful shades, but I think the white ones steal the show. Don’t you agree?

We came across another patch of lilies of the valley - absolutely impossible to pass by without stopping to admire those dainty blooms.

Here and there, the flower beds burst with vibrant colors...

...but somehow, the soft, subtle hues stood out the most. The simple elegance of irises and lilies of the valley… sometimes less is more.

We  circled around the garden and decided we’d definitely be back again soon... To see what else this beautiful place has in show. Stay tuned :)
