About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Different parks... different birds...

I wandered around different parks capturing different birds... City Park, Barr Lake State Park and Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge... Probably the most exciting find was a Snow Egret. Sometimes this bird keeps its distance, but sometimes lets you get really close.. And it's fun to watch this bird in search of food :)

Cormorants are common for all places, but only in the City Park can you see them flying back and forth non-stop...

Mallard ducks are everywhere, and it's not that interesting of a subject... But it's still hard to pass when you see colorful males and mottled females...

Well... Canada goose is boring. They are so common that we consider them native birds and forget that they really should be migrating back north and not spending summer here in Colorado ;)

Cute couple, huh? :)

This bird can be found everywhere too... Oops, sorry, this is not a bird at all!

Starling is one I don't see often in the parks. Or maybe they just rarely let you come close :)

Canada goose ducklings... aren't they adorable...

Red-winged blackbirds are residents of all parks I mentioned above... Well, they are also fun to watch, especially during the mating season.

Pelicans are guests and never stay for long. So it's always nice to spot them here and there (these are from City Park, where they are almost always seen in May).

Another mallard and the same snow egret :)

American robin. One of my favorites. Colorful and not very shy :)

A female Red-winged Blackbird awaits her mate... who watches her from afar :)

King of the Hill! For some reason, Barr Lake geese like to climb up and announce their presence (and you know how noisy they are, right?).

Looking at the reflection, I guess :)

Playful pelican on Barr Lake. I really enjoyed watching this bird :)

Hungry non-bird ;)

Great grey heron was hiding in tall grass. Just a few feet from the trail but invisible for most hikers.

A pair of Grackles at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge. But this is not the lake where I spotted the Gray Heron:)

Couple of herons wading around Barr Lake. I spent half an hour watching them looking for snacks :)

Momma goose and the little ones. So small, but already great swimmers!

American Coot. I have no idea why, but I've only seen these birds at Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge.

Another bird I haven't seen at other parks is the Yellow-headed Blackbird. It looks pretty, but its mating call is just awful!
