Mostly white... and yellow ;)

I don't have a real explanation… but when I reviewed the flower photos I took at the Botanic Garden, I realized that most of them were white... and yellow. Just a few were other colors, mostly purple or pink. I guess I didn’t intentionally choose a color palette, I just captured whatever caught my eye but still, it was an interesting observation.

 

I stopped at a flowerbed full of blue blooms. But somehow, the one that grabbed my attention had already lost most of its petals...

The water lilies were just stunning. Maybe not as beautiful as they would be a week later, but still incredibly attractive, even the ones that hadn’t opened yet. ;)

And there were tons of dragonflies zipping left to right and right to left...

Oh, those white lilies... Aren't they simply beautiful?

I made a small loop and returned to the pond in the middle of the garden...  The water lilies were mostly open by then, drawing in even more insects...

...and where there are insects, there are dragonflies :)

So many flowers bloom in July... and most of them are  simply irresistible...

Back to the pond... 

As I walked toward the Japanese Garden, I spotted a Black-crowned Night Heron. It had found the perfect resting spot - tucked beneath tree branches and practically invisible from the path, just five feet from where people were looking for koi.

I spent a few quiet minutes watching the bird before returning once again to the pond...

That lotus bud turned out to be a favorite landing pad for dragonflies. When I visited the garden a week later, I saw even more of them resting on that same lotus.

  

I kept walking in circles and somehow always ended up back at the water lilies. I’ve decided that next time I visit, I’ll dedicate the entire trip just to photographing them.

We’ll see how that goes next week. :)
