Before the storm...

Fall is still here and the leaves are still colorful... But there are fewer and fewer of them still left on the branches. And the forecast promises some wind, rain, and, maybe, snow... so I guess today was our last chance to see some color in Denver before it finally disappears. So let's go outside and enjoy another day that is still warm and sunny (actually, it's unbelievable to see all of this in November, but I don't complain).

The dry leaves cover the ground and create a brown tapestry... Isn't it beautiful?

But, believe it or not, some flowers refuse to wilt and are still blooming... adding some pops of color here and there.

Stunning birch tree... golden yellow leaves and... it was impossible to pass by without stopping and admiring its beauty... And no wonder birch trees always stop us to look at the beautifully carved leaves...

I am not sure if this spider has a good chance of catching any flies, but they captured a lot of leaves. Not sure this spider can digest them though :)

I'm not sure if this cactus was trying to cover itself with a blanket of dry leaves or trying to peek through them to get some sun... I asked, actually, but it didn't answer :(

The water wasn't really still, but we still enjoyed some reflections... and flying (of falling?) leaves ;)

And we also found a pair of ducks sitting on the rock in the middle of the pond. Basking in the sun and getting some rest before flying somewhere south...

The ginkgo was completely bare, and all the leaves covered the ground under the tree. Bright and golden, they looked absolutely stunning.

At the end of our walk we discovered that the roses were still blooming. Yep, I know... Roses in November look a bit out of place and out of season... So I couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures... just for myself... to know that it wasn't a dream, but reality :)

It was a lovely walk... especially we weren't sure if any of this would survive the bad weather though... we'll find out soon, I guess :)

The pictures were taken on October 19 and November 03, 2024.
