Fall colors
Fall is an enchanting season in Colorado. The scorching summer heat has
bid us farewell, but the biting winter cold hasn't yet arrived. In this
transitional period, we are blessed with a few weeks of delightful mild
weather, and an extra-special treat – the breathtaking Fall colors.
One sunny Sunday, our journey took us all the way to Breckenridge, with
plans for a brief visit before heading back home. However, our adventure
took an unexpected turn as we first made a stop in Frisco and found
ourselves utterly captivated by the kaleidoscope of colors adorning the
surrounding hills.
Upon reaching Breckenridge, it became abundantly clear that it's nearly impossible to stick to a schedule in this charming town. If you've had the pleasure of experiencing Breckenridge, you'll understand its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Consequently, our short pit stop turned into an enchanting five-hour meander through the town's picturesque streets. And instead of retracing our steps back to Denver, we decided to go in the opposite direction.
It was our first encounter with the Fall colors at Kenosha Pass and it was nothing
short of spectacular. The landscape was ablaze with vibrant hues that
left us in awe.
One minor drawback was the crowded parking situation and the challenge
of finding a suitable spot to pause and appreciate the scenery. To be
honest, it seems that this issue has only escalated over the years. We
made a few more attempts to visit Kenosha Pass, but the increasing
traffic deterred us. Nevertheless, if you possess the patience to arrive
early or are willing to persevere, Kenosha Pass remains a must-visit
destination to witness the stunning spectacle of aspen trees and their
vibrant Fall foliage. It's arguably the finest place to experience Fall
colors within a reasonable distance of the city.
