From Cedaredge to Redstone. Independence Day 2019 trip, part 12.

Of course we didn't want to leave these amazing wildflowers (Another wildflowers trail in Crested Butte. Independence Day 2019 trip, part 11) we admired the day before, but we needed to drive back to Denver. So we started the next morning by discussing which route to take. And we had tons of options...

 

 

For example, we could choose a short but boring road... Or a longer but more scenic one. Beautiful or easier... Guess who won ;) Yep, common sense failed again, and we chose the longest way possible ;) But, to be honest, we expected it to be also the most beautiful...

So we left Cedaredge and returned along the road we had taken the day before. The scenery was similar to what we enjoyed and we passed this coal transporter, which again made such a strong impression on us.

That was an absolutely beautiful road... It climbed up and down, meandered between hills, passed small and quiet towns, ran along rivers and lakes... We saw the prairies and mountains, green trees and rough rocks...

We crossed the mountains and stopped to enjoy the roaring river and Hays Creek Falls. 

Staying there cooled us off a bit and we breathed in fresh and crystal clear mountain air. It was really hard to get back in the car and keep driving, so beautiful this place was...

We soon reached Redstone. But we will talk about this town next time.
