Breckenridge Snow Sculptures Festival 2015

Do you know what is the best day to visit Breckenridge to see the snow sculptures? I can say... Super Bowl Day ;) Why? Because most people sit at home watching TV and leave the roads empty... And at the Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Festival, it's not crowded at all and you can walk between huge snow sculptures and admire them ;)

So we were planning on doing it in 2015, but on the morning of Super Bowl day we looked out the window and had some doubts about whether we should go... Because we had a good 10 inches of fresh snow falling overnight. And who wants to go to the mountains after a snowfall, right?

But, to our surprise, snow fell only in Denver. As we entered I-70, we found ourselves in thick fog and nearly turned back. The cars moved slowly and carefully... We could barely see the road... for about 10 minutes, and as soon as we passed the 6500 foot mark, the fog just disappeared... and the snow too ;)

That's right, there was no snow in the mountains, and the road was good, clean and ... sunny! So we were glad that we didn’t turn back and after an hour we were walking between the huge white cold sculptures, enjoying the fact that we were not in the crowd, but still able to see all these beauty ;)

In fact, that was the perfect day to see the snow sculptures - sunny and bright, with deep blue skies and very few people around... Trust me, there is no better day, and we have come to Breckenridge for this event so many times, you can believe me!

And... honestly... today is the perfect day to refresh these memories and look at these pictures again... Because it's almost 100F outside and all we dream of is snow (which we won't have until at least September ;(
