Flowers of the mountains

Flowers are beautiful, aren't they? But they are especially good in the mountains. They are simple and intricate at the same time...

Some of them you can find anywhere (like the Thistle above), but some of them belong to the wilderness (like the Indian Paintbrush below).

But most mountain flowers are hard to find anywhere else. I don't remember if I saw this Spearleaf Stonecrop anywhere in the plains, did you?

These Hairy Prairie Smokes are one of my favorites. As the name implies you should expect to find them downhills too, but I've never been so lucky, so for me they are mountain flowers ;)

Red Dome Blanketflowersare add some colors to the surroundings and attract bees and flies.

Mariposa Lily is another of my favorites. I never can pass by without taking a shot or two ;)

Yeap, Indian Painbrush again. There were so many of them looking as a sparks between green grass...

This Thistle is in full bloom. So prickly and so tender in the same time...

Bellflowers. Such a beautiful and simple flower and wide spread. You can find it anywhere from cold north to the hot south and in between. Mountains or plains, this flower doesn't discriminate and blooms everywhere!

Did you ever taste a wild red currant? It's probably sour but also full of flavor the garden one sometimes lacking.

Bonus part - even the flowers are attractive because of their bright colors they also look good when colorless. I still remember the days when photos were in black and white only but they still impressed us. So let's go back in time and look at the same flowers but through the eyes of the viewer of the middle of the 20th century...
