Rifle Falls

We have traveled along I-70 many times and there are some places where we never stopped. Always passing by on our way somewhere, but never making a turn and stopping. And one of these places is Rifle Falls State Park.

Just half an hour after Glenwood Springs and a few minutes on the country road bring you here. And... once we finally made this turn and hiked there we asked only one question - why we didn't do it earlier!

There are not only waterfalls but also some caves. Easy to access and not really deep but...

...but they are also amazing. The water was dripping and drained on the cave walls creating stalactites. Usually you need to walk deep into the cave in the darkness before you can enjoy those, but here you need just enter the cave mouth and... everything is here!

Triple falls are beautiful. The water falling down and creating a mist in the air. If you visit this place during hot Summer days you definitely will appreciate the coolness and fresh air.

We visited Rifle Falls in May after a few rainy days and enjoyed the lush grass and foliage. Everything was unbelievably bright and green. I am interested to see this place in the Winter, it should be nice too (but, probably, too slippery ;) ).
